If the "Authentication required" message appears, "Sender address rejected: Access denied" or “Send auth command first”, authorization on the Yandex SMTP server is disabled in the mail program settings. Make sure the option is enabled User Authentication(for Outlook Express) or SMTP Authentication(for The Bat!).

If a message appears "Sender address rejected: not owned by auth user", the address from which you are trying to send a letter does not match the one under whose login you are authorized on the SMTP server. Make sure that in the mail program settings, the return address is set to exactly the address from which the login is used in the SMTP authorization settings.

If a message appears "Login failure or POP3 disabled", the mail program cannot access the mailbox using the POP3 protocol. Make sure that the correct password for the mailbox is entered and that access via the POP3 protocol is enabled in the Mail programs settings section.

If a message appears "Message rejected under suspicion of SPAM", the contents of your email were recognized by Yandex.Mail as spam. To solve the problem, open the Yandex.Mail web interface and send any one letter as a test. This way you will prove to the system that the letters are not being sent by a robot.

Check your computer for viruses using free antivirus programs: CureIt! from Dr.Web and Virus Removal Tool from Kaspersky Lab.

If your mail program does not accept or send letters, check that your mail program settings are correct, as well as your computer’s Internet connection settings.

If you are using an antivirus program, firewall, or proxy server, disable them and see if this reproduces the problem.

Read step-by-step instructions to find missing emails. Before you start, open Yandex.Mail in a new tab.

When you delete messages, they go to the Deleted Items folder and are stored there for 30 days. During this period you can restore them:

Go to the Deleted Items folder.

    Select the required letters.

    Click the To Folder button.

If more than a month has passed since they were deleted, it will not be possible to restore the letters - they have been permanently deleted from the Yandex.Mail servers.

If the letters are not in the folder where they should be, then most likely they ended up in another folder, for example in Deleted Items or Spam. If you remember the sender's name or address, part of the text of the letter or the subject, try searching for letters in all the folders in your mailbox.

Have you found the letters?

You can restore letters:

Go to the folder in which the letters were found.

    Select the required letters.

    Click the To Folder button.

Select from the list the folder where you want to move the letters - for example, Inbox.

Why emails disappear and how to avoid it

The Deleted emails folder is stored for 30 days, and the Spam folder for 10 days. After this, they will be permanently deleted from Yandex servers. Why can emails end up in these folders without your knowledge:

Another user has access to your mailbox

Emails can be deleted by a user who has access to your mailbox: perhaps you forgot to end your session after working on someone else's device. To end your session, click the link in your account menu Log out on all devices. This can also be done on the Passports page - using the link Log out on all computers.

Letters disappear in the mail program

service page

A rule has been configured that deletes or moves letters. Letters disappear in the mail program.

If you use an email program and delete letters in it, they disappear on the service page. This happens because your program is configured using the IMAP protocol - in this case, the mailbox structure on the service is synchronized with the mailbox structure in the program. To delete messages only in the program, but leave them in Yandex.Mail, you can configure the program using the POP3 protocol, but we recommend not doing this: the messages may not synchronize correctly with the server.

A rule has been configured that deletes or moves emails Indicate reliable personal data in Yandex.Passport and link a phone number to your account. Our security system may have found your account suspicious and blocked your mailbox. Most often, this happens due to the fact that the phone number is not attached to the box or the Passport contains a fictitious first and last name. It usually takes a couple of hours to remove the lock.

If you delete letters in your mail program, but they are still in their folders on the Yandex.Mail website, then most likely your mail program is configured using the POP3 protocol. Due to the peculiarities of the POP3 protocol, messages in the mail program may not synchronize correctly with the server. To work with Yandex.Mail, it is recommended to use the IMAP protocol. To learn how to migrate your email program from POP3 to IMAP, see Migration from POP3.

If your email program does not display sent emails, then most likely your email program is configured using the POP3 protocol. Due to the peculiarities of the POP3 protocol, messages in the mail program may not synchronize correctly with the server. To work with Yandex.Mail, it is recommended to use the IMAP protocol. To learn how to migrate your email program from POP3 to IMAP, see Migration from POP3.

If you receive errors about an incorrect certificate when activating SSL encryption in your email program, make sure that your email program and operating system are configured correctly:

Manually add a certificate to the list of trusted certificates (Windows)

Attention. If you are not sure that you can install the certificate yourself, contact a specialist.

To add a certificate to the list of trusted certificates:

Download the certificate. (If the linked file opens directly in your browser, click CTRL + S and save the file to your computer; there is no need to copy text from the file.)

    Open the Start menu.

Developer:

Mozilla Thunderbird (Russian: "Mozilla Thunderbird") is a program for working with email. It was created with the goal of freeing the client from the need to use an electronic mailbox using a browser. In order to fully use mail in Thunderbird, the user needs to configure it.

Automatically adding a new mailbox

When you launch Mozilla Thunderbird for the first time, the program itself prompts you to add a new account. In this case, you can create a new mailbox or enter the data of an existing one. In the first case, she suggests creating an email address. mail with a service cost of $15-20 per year or use one of the many free servers. A link to their list is displayed in the same window.

In the second case, when you click on the “Use my existing mail” button, a window will open for entering your login, password and initials. The latter are displayed near the subject of the letter by the recipient.

When you enter your login and password when setting up mail, Mozilla Thunderbird will automatically download from the developer company's server all the necessary parameters for sending and receiving letters. In order for this feature to work, it requires an Internet connection.

Manually setting up a new mailbox

If there is temporarily no connection to the Internet or the parameters of the mail server you are using are not in the developer databases, then you can use its “manual” option to configure Mozilla Thunderbird.

To do this, you need to open the “Account Settings” dialog box. You can do this in 2 ways:

In the new window at the bottom left, click on the “Account Actions” button and select “Add account” from the drop-down menu. mail record."

In the window for adding an email address. email, enter the required data. After adding them and clicking the "OK" button. Then the server options and the “Manually configure” button will appear at the bottom. After activating it, LMB will open changeable parameters: server address, port, protocol (for incoming letters), encryption and verification methods.

To configure for a specific mail server, you need to change all 5 parameters. The table below shows their values for popular email services.

Postal service name

POP server address

IMAP server address

SMTP server address

Encryption

Google.com ( [email protected])

SSL/TSL or START/TLS

Yandex ( [email protected]/ua/kz)

Mail.ru ( [email protected]/bk.ru/list.ru/inbox.ru)

Rambler( [email protected])

Microsoft Mail:( [email protected]/live.ru/outlook.com)

pop-mail.outlook.com

imap-mail.outlook.com

smtp-mail.outlook.com

After this setup, Mozilla Thunderbird will be able to send and download emails.

POP3 and IMAP protocols: what is the difference and how to change the settings

They differ from each other in the way they work with the mail server. The first protocol downloads all letters to the computer and deletes them from the mail service's hard drive. As a result, they are stored only in this location.

The second protocol downloads electronic correspondence, but does not delete it from the server. This allows you to work with emails from any computer. This set of rules is supported by all modern mail clients and most mail servers.

To change the POP3 protocol to IMAP, you need:

  • Create a new account using the IMAP protocol.
  • Copy folders from an account with POP3 connected to it.
  • Remove account from POP3.

After this procedure, all letters from an account using the IMAP protocol will be copied to the mail server.

Setting up synchronization

When synchronizing, all actions with letters performed in Mozilla Thunderbird are duplicated on the mail server and vice versa. By default, the client copies all folders to the mail server's hard drive. But this can be changed. This is done as follows:

Synchronization occurs every time you connect to the Internet.

Auto-sign message

This function is designed to automatically add some template information (contact information, initials or wishes) to the end of the created letter. To set up a mail signature in Thunderbird, you need to:

They will be displayed in the letter the same way they were written. In addition to plain text, you can use any HTML tags responsible for formatting. For example: text or text .

In addition to filling out the field in the mail settings, instead of a text signature, you can insert a picture or an HTML document with the desired content. When writing a message, you need to call up the properties of the inserted image (it will be displayed in the text of the letter) and in this window, check the box next to the line “Attach this image to the message.” This will allow the recipient to receive the entire message and not have to download the signature separately.

Antispam filter

This feature is enabled by default in Mozilla Thunderbird and allows you to further filter out useless or promotional emails. The filter has 2 settings levels: for an individual account and general.

In the first case, to gain access to the filter settings, you need to open the “Account Settings” window and go to the “Antispam Filter” subsection.

Here you can enable/disable the filter and configure where to move emails marked by the user as spam.

You can access the general settings of the antispam filter from the same window after clicking on the “Global settings” button. They configure filter training parameters, namely, what to do with flagged emails: delete or move to the Spam folder.

To train anti-spam, when reading useless and advertising letters, you need to click on the “Spam” button located in the upper right corner of the message quick view area. If you do this regularly, then after a while Mozilla Thunderbird itself will move spam from the Inbox to the appropriate folder.

Ban on receiving letters

This task is performed by the built-in message filter. It does not prevent the download of emails from a specific sender, but rather moves them from the main folder to Spam or deletes them. Configuring this option in Mozilla Thunderbird is done using the following algorithm:

To add new addresses to the filter, just open it (Mozilla Thunderbird menu > Message Filters > select the one you want > Edit) and click on the button with the “+” sign. It will add another field for the new email address.

Managing saved passwords

When you add new accounts, Mozilla Thunderbird prompts you to save their passwords in memory. This is a convenient feature, but not secure because anyone with access to the computer can copy them. To avoid this, there are 2 options in the Mozilla Thunderbird settings.

The first provides access to existing passwords. To get it, you need:

  • In the main menu, select the “Settings” sub-item.
  • In the new window, go to the “Protection” and “Passwords” tabs.
  • Click the “Saved Passwords” button.

In this window you can view passwords (the “Display” button) or delete them.

The second setting allows you to restrict access to the storage using a password. To do this you need:

This password will need to be entered each time the program is launched.

Setting up Mozilla Thunderbird is a fairly simple process thanks to the program's user-friendly interface.

A new version of the Thunderbird email client has been released. Mozilla Thunderbird is a popular free email client. Mail clients are computer programs designed to work with mail.

This client has many useful and thoughtful functions that make its use as convenient as possible. We can note the high security of operation, a fast message search mechanism, and a “smart” spam filter.

There is also a function for importing settings from other email clients (The Bat!, Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express). Ability to work with RSS, check spelling directly while writing.

Despite its free status, this program includes all the necessary tools for convenient work with mail:

  • spam filtering system;
  • ability to read news via RSS;
  • the ability to sort messages into folders based on a variety of criteria - by date, by sender;
  • built-in HTML editor, which creates a fairly compact code, which in turn reduces the final size of sent letters;
  • support for all kinds of encodings;
  • expandability through additional modules.

If you still decide to use the Thunderbird email client, we recommend that you download a very useful program
