Why Yandex is downgrading Tits. What to do if Titz fell and PR Why did Titz drop

Yes, yes, exactly SEO, because... these concepts are related. Why? Because webmasters increase the TCI of their sites in order to sell more and more expensive links, and optimizers most often buy links on sites where the citation index will be as high as possible. As a result, search results suffer, and since this is the most important goal for Yandex, it takes appropriate measures to stop cheating TCI.

Below will be listed all the possible reasons that, in my opinion, could have influenced the drop in TCI.

1. Cheat TIC

Each link going to the site acts differently. For example, some link will work great for search results, another for increasing the TIC, a third for something else, etc. Of course, one link can work for everything at once, but this does not happen in all cases.

Let's say someone found a trick to cheat the TIC. For example, experimentally determine that certain links have a great effect on increasing the TCI and began to massively purchase only these links. As a result, the backlogs of such a site can be counted on one hand, and the TIC will be large. Such a picture will not look natural for Yandex. However, if there are few people who have discovered this trick, then you can live in peace, since, most likely, no one will even notice it and you will have a high TIC for pennies. As soon as this topic gets published, it dies in a couple of months and the citation index value of everyone who abused it collapses.

Finally, I will give a specific example. In May 2010, information was made public that new sites that had just been added to Sape transferred excellent weight and raised the TCI well. The prerequisites were quite obvious: if the site is new in the system, it means that many places on it have not yet been sold out and you can snatch your piece of weight from it. As I expected, this topic died quite quickly (within 4 months) when everyone began to abuse it. By the way, there are still those who, in my opinion, are still purchasing links using this scheme, because when you add a new site to Sape, as a rule, in the first week there is a sea of applications, even at expensive prices, then the demand abruptly ends.

Conclusion: if you increased the TCI and at the same time did it en masse, then in the near future the TCI should reset to zero or at least fall.

2. Filters

Sometimes it happens that the reason for the drop in the TCI may be some kind of Yandex filter. If a site is specifically punished for something, for example, if you linked to very “bad” sites that violate the laws of the Russian Federation and Yandex rules, then it is quite possible that your site will be lowered in search results or even removed from the index and, in addition, the TCI will be lowered.

To be honest, I am almost unfamiliar with such cases. I can only cite the website of the article exchange Liex.ru, which has a TCI of 0, although it is clear that if there were no filters, the TCI would be at least 50-100.

Update from 2014:
Now Yandex, for abuse of selling links, resets the TCI of sites (the value in the “TIC is not defined” bar). This is a new modified AGS filter.

3. Some kind of loophole for boosting TIC

Perhaps you have found some kind of hole in the TCI calculation algorithm, which means you are able to increase the citation index. This method is reminiscent of the first reason. Only in this case the technical side plays first of all. For example, two years ago they often talked about how you could easily increase the TCI by merging it with a subdomain, and on the subdomain some bold website, etc. should be completely copied. Of course, this topic may even have existed, but naturally it died due to the fact that many people found out about it and everyone began to abuse it.

Therefore, if your TCI is based only on deceiving the search engine, then, of course, this will not last long. By the way, for this, the site may fall under some strict filter as a punishment, from which it will then take a long time to get out.

4. Backlinks have fallen off

A trivial reason for lowering the TCI may be that some good external links that referred to you fell off or, for example, something could happen to the sites. There can be quite a few reasons what could happen to the donor. Sometimes all it takes is that the TIC of 2-3 donors has collapsed and your citation index has also collapsed like an avalanche.

5. Trading links

There are a lot of sites in RuNet that trade links on link exchanges. I can’t exactly agree that this could cause a strong drop in the TCI. However, a slight decrease is still possible. This is due to the fact that the weight of your site has decreased slightly, plus the trust that Yandex had in you has also decreased.

I advise you to read the article: Safely selling links on your website

6. Other reasons

Almost anything can be included in this section. The following real reasons came to my mind:

6.1. The algorithm for calculating TIC has changed

Agree that this is quite real. Therefore, if you didn’t do anything wrong, the backing is all in place, then it’s most likely that the algorithm for calculating the TCI has changed. By the way, I can say that this happens from time to time.

6.2. Glitch

It happens quite rarely, but it does happen. Here, as in the previous paragraph, there are no visible reasons, but the TCI has fallen. If this is a glitch, then in a week Yandex should make another update in which the values are adjusted. This has only happened a couple of times in history (however, there may have been other reasons for such rapid updates).

One of the most favorite topics on SEO forums is the TCI: “How to increase the TCI?”, “Increasing the TCI with payment upon delivery,” “How much does it cost to raise the TCI?” etc. and so on.

If the issue of increasing the TCI worries people so much, then it’s probably mega-important? Maybe the traffic on the site depends on the TCI? Or the more TIC, the higher the sales? Not at all. The Yandex Thematic Citation Index (TCI) is one of the most ancient and confusing SEO myths. Let's figure out who needs a TCI and why, and does your site need it?

What is TIC?

What does TCI depend on?

Yandex, as usual, is secretive, so the formula for calculating the TIC remains a mystery to everyone. But from the official definition itself it is clear that the TCI is formed from an assessment of the quality and quantity of links to the site. And also, very important (!): links should come from sites that belong to the same topic as your site. That is why the index is called “thematic”.

Affect TCI DO NOT affect TIC
  • Links from sites where TCI > 0
  • Links from sites of similar topics
  • Links only from indexed sites
  • Links from moderated directories (very good if the site is registered in directories such as).
  • Links from trust sites
  • Links from message boards, forums, blogs, network conferences, social networks, unmoderated directories and other resources to which anyone can add links without control by the resource owner (source Yandex.Help)
  • Links from sites located on free hosting, if they are not described in the Yandex.Catalog (source Yandex.Help)
  • Links blocked from indexing by tags And
  • Links from sites dropped from the index (as a result of Yandex sanctions or erroneous actions of the webmaster)
  • Links from mirror sites (they are merged with the main mirror and counted as 1 link)
  • Links from duplicate content (if the same article with outgoing links is placed in different sources, the search engine will count these links as 1)
  • Links from sites that have their own TCI = 0

And a couple more notes:

  1. Regarding the degree of influence: the more links leaving the donor site, the less weight each link has. And, accordingly, vice versa: the fewer links on the donor site, the more significant the link that you received, and the greater the likelihood that it will affect the TCI.
  2. Regarding outgoing links: links from your own site, on the contrary, “waste” the TCI, because in this case, you share your “authority” with those you link to.

NB! Please do not take this last point as a call to destroy all links originating from your site. If a site is created for users, then the presence of useful recommendations on it is a natural phenomenon. When you recommend good sites on your same topic, this increases the level of trust search engines have in you.

How and when does the TIC change?

The minimum value of TCI = 0, the maximum is absent. TIC with a value from 10 to 200 has a scale step of 10, up to 500 - step 25, up to TIC 1000 - 50 and further - 100.

For example, one of the most cited RuNet resources, Wikipedia, today has a TCI = 88,000. Interestingly, history shows that its TCI fell to zero twice and rose again.

Changes in TCI values occur at the time of Yandex updates (2-3 times a month). Yandex never warns about updates and does not do them as planned. So for site owners it’s a surprise every time (but everyone is used to these surprises).

After the next update, you may notice that the TCI has fallen/risen/remained unchanged.

How to find out the TCI of a site?

You can check the value of the website's TCI for today and see the history of its changes using Yandex.Webmaster (site indexing → History → TIC):

True, in Yandex Webmaster the history is stored for only 3 months.

There is also a good analytical service - http://xtool.ru/, which stores history since September 2011 (enter the name of your site in the search bar, click the “Check” button and you will see the history at the bottom of the page).

Why did the TCI drop to zero?

It also happens that one fine day the owner of the site discovers that his (with such difficulty “grown”) TIC has suddenly been reset to zero. This could happen for the following reasons:

Why is TCI needed?

But this is perhaps the most important question. It is possible to increase the TCI, but is it necessary? TCI does not affect positions in search results in any way, much less traffic and conversion.

The TIC was needed by those who sell links from their website. The higher their TCI, the more expensive they could sell links, since they were considered “weighty”. But the latest AGS, which we discussed above, was introduced against these sites. So now the TCI of sites selling links is under great threat.

If you have a commercial website that sells goods, or an information portal created primarily for users, then you DO NOT NEED a TIC. You need good search rankings and content that will attract users.

Some argue that as the TCI grows, so do the positions. This is possible, but NOT because of the TIC. Just one of the factors influencing ranking is the link profile. By improving it, you simultaneously improve your position and TCI. But there is no direct relationship between these two concepts.

You can have a zero TCI and be in the TOP. For example, the regional website of a furniture center, which we have been promoting for a year, still has a TCI = 0, but at the same time it reached the TOP 10 for 100+ requests, and traffic increased from 250 to 3000 users per month.

Instead of a conclusion

Despite the fact that only a lazy SEO doesn’t talk about TCI, no one has 100% reliable information about this indicator. When Yandex reveals its “secret materials”, then we will find out whether our guesses and observations are correct or not. In the meantime, let’s summarize the facts that we are sure of:

Fact No. 1. TIC does not affect Yandex search results.

Fact No. 2. The TIC serves to determine the site’s place in the corresponding category of the Yandex.Catalogue.

Fact No. 3. TIC depends on the quantity and quality of THEMATIC donors linking to the site.

P.S. If you are still interested in the TCI, then we are unlikely to be able to help you, but if you need good positions in the search results of Yandex and Google, then for you and your site:

  • comprehensive search engine promotion (3 tariffs for different budgets);
  • special program for young sites (3 tariffs for different levels of site preparation).

Greetings, dear readers of the SEO magazine, today we will talk about the fall of bellies; recently, many sites have begun to lose their rankings in search engines.

This question can be found very often on various forums where webmasters sit. People write there because they don’t understand what happened to their sites.

This often happens, after the next update, these indicators on the site either disappeared altogether or decreased significantly. But the webmaster himself cannot understand anything. In this post, I will help you figure this out, and I will also tell you what exactly needs to be done after they fall.

What to do if Titz crashes on your website or blog?

  • First of all, this can happen because you sold links from your site, and not just sold them, but in large quantities. If you have done these steps, then try to remove all links, the faster the better. Remove all links, build up a little link mass from a couple of high-quality donor sites and wait for the next update.
  • It may also happen that external links that lead to your site could simply fall off, check everything carefully, if this happens, build up your link mass again, but note that you need to buy only eternal and only high-quality links.
  • After which we go further, check the content on the site, which may be duplicated, look in the archives; we also should not allow one article to be in two sections. If there is such a thing, we fix it.
  • Let's go further, another reason for the drop in Titz's performance may be infrequent updating of the site. If you do not write articles on your site often, the search engine thinks that your site is not updated and does not want to develop, after which it may not devote enough time to your site.
  • In addition to all this, the content on the site itself must be unique and of high quality, which will be well received by your visitors and will be very useful for people. If the content on the site is copied or simply altered through some programs, in order to somehow obtain uniqueness, then you will have to delete all the content on the site in order to solve these problems. After which the search engine will see that your site contains exclusively unique materials, and then will return everything to its place.

That's all, dear readers. Above I described everything that can help you in such a situation. Don't forget to update your sites, the more often the better. Good luck with your promotions and earnings.

TIC is an unpredictable thing in itself. I don’t know if Yandexoids thought at the time when they created this measure that in the future it would become such a powerful tool for money makers who make money by selling links.

But, in any case, today TIC is the breadwinner of a whole army of parasites who clog the Internet with a bunch of GS (shit sites), and simply smart webmasters, whose monetizer arsenal includes selling links.

Raising TIC is a difficult and unpredictable matter. Although even today, with all this unpredictability, I can say that the scheme for raising the TIC by distributing free templates for WordPress is alive and proving its right to exist. I wrote about this once - .

But everyone is talking about how to increase the TIC, and the opposite is interesting to you? Why did the TIC fall?? This happens, you will agree. I just thought about this seriously just now.

Let's take an example. Website of the well-known service Liex.ru

In short, you see everything for yourself. Yandex chopped their TIC to smithereens. Now the TIC of the domain liex.ru, with or without www, is equal to 0. And this despite the fact that PR = 5. In fact, Liex.ru doesn’t need this indicator. But that's another question. The fact itself is important. What is this? Some kind of special AGS that mows down the TIC?

Let's look at the general situation on the site, what do we have here?

Yes, everything seems fine. All pages are in the index, both in Google and Yandex. The backs have not fallen off, the site is visited, including from search engines, including from Yandex too. That is, both in terms of the number of visitors and their quality, there is complete order here. This can be seen from Alexa (see). Their Alexa rank is 5712. This is an excellent indicator. By the way, on this blog I have it equal to 56223, which is also very good, but still I’m still like walking to the moon compared to Lieks’s indicators.

I looked at the output. I saw that Liex.ru occupied many good positions for various requests, including competitive ones.

So what is this, tell me? What the hell is with the domain liex.ru? Why did the TIC of a multi-year trust domain suddenly become zero? I won't torment you. In general, I smoked topics here and talked with friends. And it turned out that this phenomenon has been happening for quite a long time and not only for the site liex.ru.

It is clear that it sounds absurd - ban TIC. Maybe the wording is chosen incorrectly, but the fact remains that there is a phenomenon when the TIC of a site is simply reset to zero, and nothing helps to get it back. The TIC simply stays at 0 and that’s it.

In the case of liex.ru, there is a fact of manual reset of the TIC. In any case, it’s not clear at all, for what kind of merit?

Maybe AGS? But when a site is decimated by the AGS, this does not always mean that the TIC of such a site will drop to zero. There are sites under AGS whose TIC remains the same as it was before, and there are even those where it grows))

Many people here say that this cannot happen. But Yandexoids themselves write that a special approach is not excluded

Fully written about this. That is, an individual approach to any site that may be suspected of cheating TIC is not excluded. Simply put, they can manually reset the TIC of any site without comments.

Only one question arises: why reset the TIC of liex.ru, which essentially doesn’t need this TIC? Of the answer options, only one has come to mind so far. Doesn't this mean that the monopoly of someone in RuNet (I'm not talking about Yandex) is getting stronger, and at the same time the opportunities are becoming simply fantastic?

Today for dessert: did you know that with the help of youtube you can select keywords for website promotion and collect competitors’ keywords? Here's how to do it. Everything is in English, but there is no need for much explanation here. Everything is clear

Yandex.Catalog is the oldest and one of the largest catalogs of websites in RuNet. That is why, when promoting an Internet resource, it is important to pay attention to its rating in Yandex.Catalog. However, the site’s position on the catalog pages will decrease as the so-called TIC resource decreases. To keep this indicator at the same level, you need to understand why Yandex lowers the TIC.

What is TIC

Thematic citation index or TIC is an internal mechanism of Yandex.Catalog that determines the authority of the site and, consequently, the site’s position in a certain category. The main objective of this indicator is to demonstrate how authoritative the resource is among competitors, i.e. websites of similar topics.

Operating principle of TIC

The thematic citation index consists of the total weight of referring sites. The total weight consists of two components:

The number of links leading to an Internet resource;
- the quality of these links - i.e. their significance. The significance of links is determined, first of all, by thematic proximity of the linking sites.

In this case, only links from resources indexed by Yandex and that are not bulletin boards, forums, blogs, or social networks are taken into account. Yandex does not publish clear algorithms for calculating thematic citation index, and may even change.

Why Yandex is lowering the TIC

A decrease in the thematic citation index can occur for a number of reasons:

2. The referring site has been excluded from the index. As mentioned earlier, the linking site must be indexed by Yandex. Removing the referring resource from the index database will result in a lower TIC.

3. Yandex marked the site as “useless”. According to company representatives, only “natural links” are taken into account in the TIC calculation, and the resource itself must be “useful” for users. From Yandex’s point of view, an Internet resource can be considered useless for a number of reasons:

The site does not contain original and “useful” content;

The site contains a large number of links to third-party resources;

The TIC of the resource was artificially increased by purchasing links and other actions.

4. Yandex has changed the algorithm for calculating the TIC. It was already noted above that the algorithms for calculating TIC can be changed. In this case, it is possible to change the TIC of the resource, including downward.
