A program for viewing information about your computer. How to find out the hardware characteristics of a computer or laptop without disassembling it. Where to download and how to install the AIDA64 program on a laptop - video

System information is necessary for the user to obtain information about the hardware and software components of the computer. Basic information about your computer is displayed in Windows Settings, which you can easily access by going to Windows Settings.

In some cases, the information provided about the Windows system in the operating system settings is insufficient. Therefore, more detailed information is needed that can be used to solve problems or obtain reference information.

How do I get system information? General information about the system can be obtained using the built-in tools of the operating system, or using specialized programs from third-party developers.

Unfortunately, it is not always possible to use the services of third-party programs on this computer. Therefore, in this article I will tell you how to get information about the system using built-in tools, using Windows 10 as an example (the tools work similarly in other operating systems).

Utility msinfo32.exe (System information)

The msinfo32.exe (System Information) utility allows you to obtain detailed information about your computer: hardware resources, components, software environment.

  1. To launch the msinfo utility, enter the expression “msinfo32” (without quotes) in the “Search in Windows” field.
  2. The search will return the best match. Launch the classic System Profile app.

The second way to launch the msinfo32 utility:

  1. Press the Windows + R keyboard keys simultaneously.
  2. In the “Run” window, in the “Open” field, enter the expression “msinfo32” (without quotes), and then click on the “OK” button.

After this, the collection of information about the system will begin, the “System Information” utility window will open, which displays basic information about the Windows operating system, hardware and components.

This information is usually sufficient for the average user.

Specialists can look at other system parameters: hardware resources, components, software environment. Each section contains subcategories that display detailed data on all system parameters.

The information obtained can be saved to a file on your computer. Enter the “File” menu, click on the “Save” item (“Ctrl” + “S”) to save the information in a system information file (*.NFO), or on the “Export” item to save the data in a text file (format *.TXT).

Obtaining system information using the systeminfo command

You can use the console utility to view system information.

Run Command Prompt as Administrator. Enter the command "systeminfo" (without quotes). After this, general information about the system will be displayed in the command line interpreter window.

To save system information to your computer, enter the following command at the command prompt:

Systeminfo>C:\systeminfo.txt

After executing the command, the “systeminfo” file in “TXT” format will be saved on the “C” drive of the computer.

It is better to open this file not in Notepad (there will be problems with the encoding of Russian letters), but in an alternative text editor, for example, Notepad++, which supports various encodings.

System Information in Windows PowerShell

You can get acquainted with the necessary information about the operating system using the built-in Windows PowerShell tool.

Launch Windows PowerShell on your computer, type the command “systeminfo” (without the quotes), and then press the “Enter” keyboard key.

In the Windows PowerShell window, you will see general system information.

Conclusions of the article

The user can obtain system information using tools in the Windows operating system: using the msinfo32.exe utility, or by running the systeminfo command in a console utility or in Windows PowerShell.

The main task that a computer diagnostic program performs is to obtain as much information as possible about the software and hardware of the device.

With its help, they determine whether there are enough resources to run a certain application, check the characteristics of the system, components and their condition.

Such programs are especially important for a person who, for whatever reason, needs to know the parameters of someone else’s computer and to correct errors.

The need for system monitoring

Applications that can help you diagnose your system are necessary to obtain important information that will help:

  1. Determine how much memory is installed on your computer, its type and number of slots. After this, it will be much easier to choose a new suitable RAM or conclude that it is worth replacing the entire motherboard or computer (laptop);
  2. Understand exactly how to prepare for the release of the expected game - add memory, install a more powerful processor, purchase an additional hard drive or video card;
  3. Determine the temperature of the graphics and central processor, identifying the need to replace thermal paste;
  4. Find out why installed programs do not work and the computer freezes - due to incorrect drivers, insufficient video memory or hardware failure.

CPU-Z

The program, distributed free of charge, has an unpretentious interface and allows you to obtain technical information about almost all elements of the computer:

  • Processor (including its model, architecture, socket, voltage, frequency, multiplier, cache size and number of cores);
  • Motherboard (brand, model, BIOS version, supported memory types);
  • RAM (volume, type and frequency);

The main advantages of the application are the ability to obtain detailed and accurate information in Russian about all components of the system.

This can be useful for professional users and hobbyists.

Among the disadvantages is the inability to determine the temperature of the processors.

Speccy

Another free program allows you to obtain detailed information about all the main components and software, from the processor and board to RAM and optical drives.

In addition, using Speccy, you can obtain data from temperature measurement sensors, finding ways to correct connection errors or installation of the ventilation system.

Naturally, the application also determines the number of RAM slots, which can be an important factor in determining the need and possibilities for upgrading a computer.

And when preparing a device for sale, Speccy can be used to quickly compile a list of components.

After all, although built-in utilities allow you to do almost the same thing, it will take more time, and you won’t be able to find out some data.

It is worth noting that the program developers are the authors of such useful software as .

And among its advantages they note:

  • Clear and practical interface;
  • Quick access to important information;
  • There is no need to install the application, which may be necessary, for example, if you do not have access to the administrator account;
  • Ability to monitor the selected parameter in real time by setting it as a tray icon;
  • Launch simultaneously with the system;
  • Free access.

HWiNFO

Thanks to the HWiNFO system application, you can get maximum useful information about the system.

And also compare the performance of individual hardware components with standard parameters and indicators of popular analogues.

In addition, the program allows you to create reports that can be used to compare the performance of individual PC elements.

All the information is quite detailed, but only concerns the equipment - you won’t be able to find out about the drivers using it.

However, this drawback is practically the only one, since the application is capable of collecting data about any devices, including even outdated equipment (for example, IDE and dial-up modems), old BIOS and video cards of any type.

In addition, the application can also test processors, memory and disks. The data obtained as a result of the test can be stored in logs.

And you can control individual parameters using tray icons, which change periodically.

AIDA64 Extreme

Its name can be deciphered as System Info for Windows.

It has a small size and a simplified interface, reminiscent of standard Windows utilities and is capable of providing all the information most necessary for the user.

For example, using SIW you can find out about the latest system updates, obtain information about system files or folders, as well as drivers, running processes and services.

Moreover, in a more detailed form than the “Task Manager” allows you to do.

For commercial or enterprise use, a license must be purchased.

conclusions

The number of programs for checking hardware and operating systems is quite large.

New applications are almost constantly being created to help monitor computer parameters and hardware faults.

But the programs presented in the list allow you to do this as efficiently as possible by installing only 2-3 applications, and not a whole dozen.

This saves time and avoids downloading unnecessary files from the network, risking accidentally introducing a virus onto your computer.

In addition, if there is no access to the network, Windows has a number of utilities that will also allow you to find out some parameters.

Video material:

Hi all! Alexander Osipov is with you and today I will talk about the Speccy program. The utility is a powerful, yet simple and easy-to-use tool for displaying detailed information about your computer's hardware. The information is detailed and includes specific device models, their technical characteristics, operating modes, etc. The program was created by Piriform (its most famous software product is CCleaner).

In addition to detailed information about the computer hardware, operating system and installed drivers, it provides data on the operating temperatures of the processor, video card, and hard drive. According to numerous reviews of Speccy, the program quite accurately shows the temperature of devices at standard computer settings. If the computer is overclocked in the BIOS or third-party utilities interfere with the system to increase performance, then the temperature readings become incorrect. By the way, most temperature detection programs suffer from this. So it’s difficult to classify this as a serious shortcoming.

Speccy performs its most important purpose – quick and convenient viewing of all technical characteristics of a computer perfectly. If you need the characteristics of your laptop or desktop computer somewhere, you can easily save them in xml or txt format, and also print them on a printer.

This information may be useful when going to the store to buy new components, so that when purchasing you take what you need and will definitely suit your computer. At the same time, you do not need to understand hardware. You just gave a printout to the store manager and said what you want, and he will suggest what you need. All you have to do is choose the price and manufacturer.

The PC characteristics are saved and printed in full, and not separately for each section, which is sometimes not very convenient (you have to spend a long time twisting the footcloth of the text to the desired parameter). In my opinion, there is no point in taking a screenshot, since it is saved in the speccy program format. The best option here would be to take a simple screenshot of the data area of the Speccy program you need. You can use Lightshot for this.

Installing the Speccy program in Russian

Many users are looking for Piriform Speccy in Russian. There is no such version, since the developers are British, but it has the ability to change the installation language, including Russian.

By default, the program is installed in English. To install the Russian version, simply select it in the menu and click next.

Follow the installation instructions.

If you are interested, information about the program can be viewed after installation is complete.

That's it, installation is complete. Now I’ll tell you what the Speccy program can do.

What is Speccy for?

When you first launch Speccy, it scans your computer and determines what hardware and drivers are installed for it. Below in the images you can see by what parameters the utility scans the computer (the characteristics of my work laptop are shown).

As you can see, the information about all devices and installed drivers is quite comprehensive. Everything is sorted out and described in as much detail as possible and presented in an easy to read form. Compared to the competing AIDA utility, Speccy is less heavy and much easier to use (especially for inexperienced users). There is a portable version that runs from a flash drive without installation. It is updated quite often, so there should be no problems with identifying devices on new computers. Works with all versions of Windows.

The Speccy program can be downloaded for free from the official website.

From time to time there is a need to find out what hardware is on the computer (video card, hard drives, processor, etc.) and brief information about the system (how much of it is there, how much memory it takes up). For the sake of such a thing, there is no point in opening the computer case, especially if it is under warranty; fortunately, there are a bunch of all kinds of utilities, including a large number of free ones, that will tell you almost everything about your computer. The main thing here is not to get confused by the abundance of possible options and find a utility that suits you. If you don’t need detailed information about each computer component and all installed programs, then you should pay attention to the free program.

Immediately after launching the Speccy installation, we are immediately prompted to select the language that the application will use by default; in the large list of several dozen options, there was also a place for Russian localization. Then there are more familiar questions about where to place the icons to launch the program and whether it is necessary to automatically check for updates. Well, in the end, as a dessert, they are trying to offer to install the Google Chrome browser (by the way, it’s quite good) and make Google the default search engine, which I advise you to refuse; if necessary, you can do it manually. Then you need to wait until the necessary files are unpacked and the program is ready for use. Although we were very surprised by the lack of ability to select the directory where Speccy will be located.

As an option, Speccy can be used as a portable program that can be run from a USB flash drive on any computer; simply unpack it into a suitable folder.

Having launched Speccy, we get a nondescript gray window, where in the left column a list of all found devices and hardware is displayed, where you can switch between individual items by clicking the mouse, and on the right side there is detailed information about the selected item. The program provides fairly detailed information about the processor, RAM, motherboard, video card, hard drives, optical drives, external peripherals and network connections. I almost forgot, you can click on the points where temperature and frequency are indicated, after which a beautiful plate will pop up, with a graph clearly showing how the temperature of a particular device has changed over time.

There is no point in describing each point in detail, the name speaks for itself, and no one has yet canceled the experiments of poking at all the buttons that can be pressed.

Users are offered a minimal set of settings, where the most useful items are the choice of language and in what units the temperature will be displayed.

If you need to quickly find out what hardware is on your computer and basic information about the system, Speccy will be an excellent choice. The program knows everything even about the newest hardware, so it will not be confused even by a very tricky computer configuration. The best part is that there is nothing superfluous here. Speccy just does its job without asking any unnecessary questions.

The program works great on 32 and 64 bit operating systems. Interface localization is available in several dozen languages, including Russian.

Good day.

When working on a computer (laptop), in some cases it is necessary to find out the exact characteristics of a particular hardware.

For example, you often have to do this when you want to find and update drivers, you need to find out the temperature of the hard drive or processor, video card, when the computer starts to freeze or slow down, etc.

This is also necessary in harmless cases: for example, when you need or.

To purchase what you need, you need to know the characteristics of the hardware (otherwise, there is a risk of wasting money 😢).

In this article I will present the best (in my opinion) utilities that can tell you EVERYTHING about your system and hardware. I’ll also give you several options for viewing characteristics in Windows itself. (without installing additional programs!).

With the help of special utilities (AIDA, Speccy, etc.)

Specialist. utilities for viewing computer characteristics are the easiest and fastest way to find out EVERYTHING and EVERYTHING about the hardware and software that is installed on the PC (laptop).

As a rule, such utilities do not require installation, which means they can be written to a USB drive and run on any computer, immediately learning all the information about it.

Table No. 1: utilities for viewing PC characteristics

2 Speccy

A small but very powerful utility for viewing information about installed hardware and Windows OS.

Some parameters that this utility produces are difficult to find (or even impossible) in other software: for example, the number of memory slots, the number of used and free slots (RAM), timings, etc.

The program is very easy to use, after starting you will see a window: information on the right side, links to sections on the left:

  • summary information;
  • Operating system;
  • processor (CPU);
  • random access memory (RAM);
  • motherboard;
  • video card, etc.

The program also contains information about the temperature of the main components of the PC: hard drive, CPU, etc.

A utility for viewing various characteristics and parameters of a PC, performing diagnostics, finding problems and troubleshooting.

The list of information received is quite extensive:

  • you can find out the temperature of the main components (not only the current one, but also the maximum one - the program monitors and remembers the temperature in real time - useful when diagnosing a video card);
  • get detailed information about the processor and video card;
  • find out how much the battery is used (relevant for laptops);
  • get information about the motherboard, drivers, monitor, network, etc.
A small utility that does not require installation, which will give you complete information about the processor:
  • name and manufacturer;
  • core supply voltage;
  • cache information;
  • supported instructions;
  • manufacturer;
  • The utility will tell you whether the CPU is overclocked, etc.

The utility works on 32/64 bit systems.

Note: in addition to information about the processor, you can find out about RAM, motherboard, and video card.

A utility for computer diagnostics and detailed information about software and hardware.

Despite the name, the utility works on both x32 and x64 systems (all versions of Windows are supported: XP, 7, 8, 10).

Provides a mountain of information (comparable to Aida 64 or Everest):

  • processor information;
  • motherboard information;
  • about the video adapter;
  • about the software and OS that is installed;
  • detailed memory information;
  • about the printer and scanners;
  • about USB ports, network slots, etc.

In general, this one utility can replace a whole company of other analogues. Moreover, the program “weighs” quite modestly: 2-3 MB, and a portable version is available (i.e. no installation required).

Laptop BIOS settings (in pictures) -

Below in the photo you see what information can be found in the UEFI of an Asus laptop. Not so much, however, all the basics are there: processor, memory, disk, video card, resolution, boot priority, cooler status, etc.

In older laptops with BIOS in the main tab (“Main” or “Information”) Quite a lot of useful information is also presented (example below).

Information about the laptop in the BIOS: processor, hard drive, BIOS version, device model, serial number, etc.
