How to restore factory settings through recovery. Recovering data on Android after a factory reset. Life after hard reset. By pressing a separate button

Why do you need a data reset?

Resetting device data (factory reset, hard reset, factory reset) is deleting all data from a smartphone or tablet: contacts, messages, downloaded applications, photos, music, mail settings, alarm clocks. After the reset, the smartphone or tablet returns to its factory state.

Typically, data reset is done in the following cases:

  • Before selling or transferring the device to another person;
  • If some problem occurs on the device that cannot be fixed by other means;
  • After updating the device software (firmware).

What to do before resetting your data

1. Copy important information from your device.

During the reset, the device memory will be cleared and all data will be deleted. If there is any important data, make a copy of it.

2. Remove your Google account from your device.

If you do not do this, then when you turn on the device after a reset, you will be asked for the account that was on the device before the reset. Without entering this account, you will not be able to turn on the device.

The first way to reset data is through the menu

The second way to reset data is using buttons

This method is used when a smartphone or tablet does not turn on or the screen is locked.

If your device doesn't turn on after resetting, you need a Google Account

If after resetting the device does not turn on (freezes)

Contact the Samsung service center; you will need to reinstall the firmware using the engineering method.

A factory reset removes all data from your phone's internal storage. These are photos, videos, music, applications - everything that was recorded while using the mobile device. In this case, the SD card will remain untouched: the files on it will be saved after a hard reset.

So, without thinking twice and considering that this is the fastest way to solve all the problems, you reset the phone. Is there life after a factory reset? Is it possible to recover data on your phone after you have done a hard reset.

Recovering photos and videos after a hard reset

  1. I have a Samsung Galaxy Duos. I forgot my lock PIN code and had to reset my phone to factory settings. Lost photos, videos, contacts and much more. Can I return them? I tried various mobile applications, but it didn’t work.
  2. The phone was stolen. Apparently, they reset the settings - although the phone was password protected with a graphic key. After redeeming the phone, we discovered that the comrades who had stolen the flash drive had, of course, thrown it away. There are no backups. Mostly everything was in the phone's memory. How to recover photos and videos? Is this even real? In complete despair.
  3. I did a factory reset on my Samsung Galaxy J5. After that it became like new. I would like to know how to recover photos, videos, music. All these applications were in the phone's memory.
  4. I accidentally deleted files on my phone using wipe reset. Please tell me how can I restore them? Phone model Alcatel One Touch Idol2 6037K. Built-in memory. The battery is not removable.
  5. Please tell me, is it possible to return a photo if we took pictures and the photos were not saved, they were just in the “camera”. The child forgot the password on the phone and simply took it and reset the settings through the hardware buttons. Can we return the photo?

Answer. Yes, you can, but the likelihood of recovery depends on your persistence and the time that has passed since resetting Android. You can use the recovery method described above (by creating an image of the internal memory).

To search for photos in a connected disk image, you can use any software, even free software, like PhotoRec or Recuva (enable the deep scanning option). How to use them, watch in this video:

How to recover phone numbers after a factory reset

  1. If you did not set up contact synchronization before the hard reset, this guide will help you recover deleted contacts and phone numbers after the reset.
  2. If contact synchronization has been enabled (for example, via Gmail), connect your Google account and wait for the contact list to synchronize.
  3. Check if there is a VCF file on the memory card or internal memory of your phone.

How to restore applications

After resetting the settings, Instagram and another program are not installed. What should I do to install applications?

Answer. Restoring applications after a hard reset is usually not difficult.

Some Android apps require a later version of the OS on your phone. After a hard reset, you roll back the Android version to the one that was installed by the supplier. Therefore, for good measure, you need to download the latest firmware updates to your phone. This can be done through the settings.

To reinstall all applications, just connect the user's Google account. The applications will be downloaded and installed on your phone automatically - in their latest version.

What to do if your phone doesn’t work after a hard reset

  1. I have an HTC One V phone and after resetting the phone stopped working. The screen turns on, the HTC logo appears and nothing else happens. What to do?
  2. Clicked on reset to factory settings. Now the phone says Secure Fail: Recovery and a yellow triangle. inside there is a black exclamation mark and again neither here nor there. The phone has not turned on for quite some time, what should I do?

Answer.

Method 1. Reset the settings again - deleting all data from the internal memory of the phone.

Since you do not have access to the Android OS, you can do a hard reset using the hardware buttons. For this:

  1. Remove the battery and put it back into the phone
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up button
  3. In addition to this, press and hold the Power button

After which you will go into recovery mode to factory settings.

Note. The method of performing a hard reset is different on many Android devices. For details, see your smartphone's manual.

Method 2. If a repeated hard reset does not help, install an alternative - unofficial - firmware. We recommend looking for instructions on the 4pda.ru forum.

After resetting the settings, access to the account is lost

  1. I lost my phone. When they returned it, I realized that they tried to reset the settings, but could not, because the Google Account interfered. How can I log into my phone now, given that I don’t remember either my password or login?
  2. I accidentally reset my phone and thereby lost my Google account. I tried to restore it, but it popped up: there is not enough evidence. What should I do?

Answer. The problem can be solved quite simply. You need to go to this Google page and answer the questions. If the account belonged to you and you had recovery data (for example, a backup Email or phone), you will be able to restore access and “link” the account to your mobile device again.

Recovering file names

I had a problem with my phone: if someone called while I was using it, a message would appear that the Phone app had stopped. I asked on the forum and they said that I needed to reset my phone. After the reset, the problem was solved, but the music, it turns out, was in the phone’s memory. Is it possible to restore it or at least find out what kind of music it was?

Answer. You will not be able to restore the music. Find out file names - yes, but only if they are saved in the file table. To do this, use the recovery method from internal memory, which we described in this guide. This procedure is quite complicated and time-consuming.

Phone memory is full

My tablet with Android v4.0.3 was automatically reset to factory settings. After that I can’t load the application, it says: internal memory is full, free up some space. But the memory is clear. What should I do?

Answer. Although a Hard Reset deletes user data, it does not completely clear the phone's memory - unless you select the appropriate option in the menu.

Try manually deleting the files. The most convenient way to do this is through the Root Explorer file manager or the Storage Analyzer utility for Android.

Internet does not work when setting up the phone

  1. I forgot the unlock password for my Samsung Galaxy A3 2016. After resetting to factory settings and after the greeting, only the search for a Wi-Fi connection is activated, the “Next” button does not function. What to do?
  2. I recently did a factory reset. Everything was fine, I turned on the phone, selected a language, connected to the Internet, then the “connection check” download began. This download is already on the second day, I don’t know what to do.

Answer.

1. Try setting up your phone via a different wifi network (the problem may be with the wifi router).

2. Enable USB debugging on your phone 3. Download and install custom Android firmware for your device (a rather unsafe method, suitable only for experienced users!)

After the reset, the notes on the phone were deleted

I restored the factory settings on Android, but forgot to transfer phone notes to another phone. What to do in this case? Is it possible to somehow recover text notes?

Answer. If you previously stored text notes in the standard Google notepad application, recovery is unlikely: after a hard reset, all application settings are deleted.

However, if you set up synchronization with Samsung Cloud, you can easily restore your notes in the Samsung Notes app by re-syncing them with your account.

Answers to other questions

Please ask any questions about recovery after a Hard reset via the feedback form. We kindly request: formulate the question in detail and preferably without errors.

    I was doing encryption and there was a glitch. There was nothing left to do but press the "reset" button. But before the reset I had a bunch of photos, there were photos of my parents, travels, etc. I really need these photos, I’m already hysterical and don’t know how to continue living when your whole life was on your smartphone.

    I accidentally turned my Android back to factory settings, i.e. I reset it, so all the photos were deleted, can I restore them using the application and which one?

Answer. After performing a factory reset, all data in the internal memory of your phone was deleted, including photos. There are two ways to solve your problem.

  1. Look for photos on your memory card, on the Internet (if you kept backups there).
  2. To recover data in internal memory, we recommend a simple program DiskDigger for Android. You can download it on Google Play..

My friend caught a blocking virus on his Microlab phone. Naturally, no one wanted to pay hackers to unlock it. I reset his phone completely and now the language selection screen appears and then search for Wi-Fi. It doesn't go any further. I inserted the SIM cards, but it still won’t let me continue. What happened to him now and how to fix it?

Answer. This means that the problem is precisely that the phone cannot connect to the wifi network. Find an open access network and try to connect. If it still doesn’t work, change the firmware to custom one.

The glass on the phone (Samsung A5) was replaced and the phone was reset, photos and videos disappeared. Is it possible to restore and how? I tried it through your program - it didn’t work.

Answer. Curious to know what recovery programs you used. The question also arises: where did you look for the deleted data - in the internal memory or on the SD card. As written above, a factory reset erases the internal memory, so you will need utilities like DiskDigger for Android. Another recovery method is by creating a snapshot of the internal memory and further searching for files on it.

Android 5.1 Lenovo A2010. I wanted to update, but I clicked on the factory settings and all the necessary photos and videos disappeared. I downloaded the recovery program Tenorshare Data Recovery, but it is impossible to open, i.e. doesn't look up on the phone. What should I do to recover deleted photos and videos?

Answer. Really. Tenorshare Data Recovery can only be launched from a computer. It’s not a fact that with its help you will be able to return data after a hard reset (that is, resetting to factory settings). You need a way to recover from internal memory. See the answers above where we answered a similar question.

I did a hard reset on my lg D724 phone, having previously synchronized everything. But I missed the most important thing - notes from the notepad application. The wife had a lot of important information in her notebook. Tell me, please, how can I restore this?

Answer. Try EaseUS MobiSaver. We haven't tested it, but the developers claim that MobiSaver can recover notes. However, it is important to note that after a hard reset, the internal memory is erased, and not all applications can work with it. So, to be honest, there is very little chance of getting your text notes back after a reset.

I have a Samsung galaxy s7 edge. The problem is that when I entered the camera, it gave me the following notification “Camera error warning”, after which every time I enter the camera the phone gives me this error. I reset the phone to factory settings, but it didn’t help... clearing the cache in the camera settings and I reset its data, but all my efforts were even, nothing helped. I went to the service center and they said that they did not have the equipment to disassemble and see what was wrong with the phone, and in return they could send it to Moscow for repair, but it will take weeks or more I don’t need it. Is it possible that if I roll back the phone to the previous version of the OS, that is, 6.0, since I have 7.0. Or just reflash the phone. Tell me, will this help? If not, then help and tell me a couple of ways to correct this error.

Answer. Enter Android safe mode and check if the camera is working. This will help identify whether additional applications you installed or along with the firmware are affecting the camera.

You may be using custom firmware - if so, we advise you to find alternative versions or update your phone to the official firmware.

If resetting to factory settings really didn’t help, you need to contact a Samsung service center or, as you mentioned, send it to Moscow for repair.

My phone has been reset to factory settings, how can I recover data from my phone? I tried it through applications from Google Play, almost all of them require root. What is it and how to get it?

Answer. Root access (or superuser rights) gives recovery programs full control over the Android file system, including deleting and overwriting files. Although, in fact, recovery programs only need access in read mode.

Even if you find an application that does not require root, the likelihood of recovery will be extremely small. Try installing the KingoRoot application (root installation in a few steps) and DiskDigger for Android, it should work.

After resetting the Prestigio NK3, the system writes that the SD card is not supported and suggests formatting. The reset was carried out with the card removed. There is a lot of necessary data there, is there a solution?

Answer. Most likely, the hard reset did not in any way affect the safety of the data on the memory card. If you removed the memory card while other files were being written to it from the phone, the SD card's file table may have become corrupted. You need to connect it to your computer or laptop via a card reader and check for reading errors using a standard Windows utility. If the errors are corrected, the SD card should open on the phone. If not, Recuva or DiskDigger with Dig Deep mode should find all the files.

My wife did a hard reset on her Samsung Grand 2 Duo phone without making a backup copy. Photos and music are not so important, all phone contacts were lost and application data from the Play Market could not be recovered. In all applications, everything had to start over. Please tell me, is it possible to somehow restore this?

Answer. The likelihood of recovering user data from applications depends on each application individually. So, if user data was stored on an SD card, then you can restore the data. Otherwise, after a hard reset, you need to scan the internal memory in an attempt to find each individual application file (the probability of doing this is quite small).

Phone contacts can be imported from a SIM card - of course, if you took care of a backup copy of your contacts in advance. Check to see if your contacts have been synced with your Google account and the Contacts service assigned to it.

A factory reset may be necessary in several cases. For example: if there is a problem with your device and you cannot solve it, or you want to sell your device and do not want your personal data to fall into the wrong hands.

The phone will appear in the ODIN program on the right. Next, click Start if you have not changed your mind.

If all of the above methods did not help you, contact your nearest service center. Resetting settings can always be done, but it is not always possible to do it in time.

Video: Reset Android settings if the device is slow

Every PC user has encountered a problem when the operating system starts to malfunction and reboots frequently. This happens due to the loss of system files, a large number of viruses or technical problems with the equipment.

It is especially unpleasant to find yourself in a situation where Windows stops loading. This may result in the loss of data: valuable documents, music and photos.

Basic system recovery methods

In most cases, you can reset your system to factory settings or restore Windows to work with working system files on your computer. To do this, it is not necessary to have special education or deep knowledge of software. Just use the tips below. The following methods are considered the most effective:

  1. Loading the last known good configuration;
  2. Built-in function " Windows System Restore»;
  3. Using the system boot disk.

In different situations, one of the above methods will help to return to the previous state. Each user should be able to debug the system, so we will dwell on the methods of restoring Windows in more detail.

Loading Last Known Good Configuration

This option is considered the simplest; it allows you to quickly return the system to working condition. First you need to go to Safe Mode. To do this, while Windows is loading, press the F8 key and select " Last Known Good Configuration" After which the system will restore the previous working settings and system files, then the download will begin again.

In different laptop models, entering safe mode to further reset or restore the system is done using system utilities. Below are the combinations to run some of them:

  • ASUS - F9;
  • Dell XPS-F8;
  • Lenovo ThinkPad - F11;
  • Lenovo IdeaPad - dedicated OneKey Rescue key;
  • Toshiba - F8 or 0;
  • Sony VAIO - F10 or ASSIST key;
  • HP Pavilion - F11;
  • LG-F11;
  • Rover - Alt (hold);
  • Samsung - F4.

On recent UEFI PCs, entering Safe Mode will require you to change the defaults when selecting your OS. More detailed information can be found in the technical documentation.

Using Last Known Good Configuration, you can roll back the latest versions of drivers that you may have installed incorrectly. Or return working system files that were affected by malicious software. This method of returning to the previous configuration will help with minor bugs and freezes that appeared with the latest changes to the system. In case of more serious damage, it may turn out to be useless and you will need to try other methods to get the files back.

Windows System Restore

It is usually used after a previous method that did not produce results. The operating system has the ability to make several restore points that record the state of all programs at a certain point. You can make such points yourself or configure the frequency of autosaves.

Before creating a restore point manually, it is better to close running programs. Let's go to " Control Panel" and select the item " System" Next, go to the menu “ System protection", in the window that opens, select " Creating a restore point" and indicate its name. After the procedure is completed, a system message will be displayed - “The recovery point was created successfully.”

To start the recovery procedure, go to the menu “ Start", click on " Control Panel", go to the item " Recovery- Starting system recovery." In the window that opens, you can select the last point or view all available ones. By clicking " Find affected programs", you will see the entire list of applications that will be changed. Usually it is enough to choose a point 3-4 days before malfunctions and failures occur. After selecting a restore point and confirming it, the computer will restart.

In the same menu, you can restore using an image made in advance. It is first saved to a DVD, flash drive or external hard drive. Today, parameters are most often restored from an image via a USB connection - it’s fast and convenient.

For inexperienced users, it is better to leave all the proposed settings by default; after several transitions, we confirm the reset process by clicking the Finish button. It is worth noting that if you created a backup with errors or the media with the image was damaged, then the system startup may be interrupted. In this case, it is better to install a new environment on the computer and first format the hard drive.

Using the system boot disk

If Windows is seriously malfunctioning or is heavily exposed to viruses, you may need a boot disk. With it, you can reset the system or roll it back to a working state and the desired settings. In safe mode, select " Troubleshooting your computer", then insert the disc into the DVD drive and in the window that opens, click on the "" button.

The program offers us a choice of several ways to set default parameters:

  1. Startup repair - finding the main problems that prevent Windows from starting;
  2. System Restore – search for a restore point with working settings to reset;
  3. Restoring a system image - using a previously made backup;
  4. Windows Memory Diagnostic – check system memory;
  5. Command line – working with files via a text line.

The recovery process is the same as with the built-in application. But by working with the disk, you eliminate the possibility of viruses and other third-party software having a harmful effect on the operation.

Full reset to factory settings

If the recovery methods described above do not produce results, you can try a full reset to factory settings. To do this, some laptop and PC models have a hidden system partition with a copy of Windows in its basic state.

Manufacturers offer users special utilities that will make the reset process simple and straightforward. The operating principle of such programs is similar and even inexperienced users can understand them. You can start the utility using a special key or through safe mode while the computer is booting. If such a utility is provided by the developer, its name will be displayed at the end of the list of recovery options.

In the window that opens, we need to select the first item – “ Restore to condition at the time of purchase" After finishing the work, the computer will be rebooted and a rollback to factory settings will occur (you will need to select the default language again and create an account).

It is worth noting that all files that were previously on the hard drive will be deleted permanently. Therefore, we recommend saving everything you need on a flash drive or other storage device in advance.

Video on the topic

Quite often, Android smartphones experience various problems and errors in the system. And this is not surprising, because the system is simple, with free access, but at the same time it is easily vulnerable to viruses and malware. Because of this, after a while the Android OS device is no longer as powerful as when purchased.

What should you do if your smartphone starts to work poorly and doesn’t produce as good performance as before? If you have this problem, resetting your settings on Android or otherwise called Hard Reset will help you. But how to do that? You can take your phone to a service center and pay a lot of money and also waste time, or you can do it all yourself at home. But how to reset an android to factory settings or how to reset an android? We'll find out now.

Hard reset or the data reset process is named for a reason - after the process is completed, all user data will be deleted from the device. The data includes: all the applications you have installed, contacts on the phone itself, as well as all account data. But all data on the memory card will remain unaffected. To delete data from a memory card, you must format the memory card itself.

What is Hard Reset/Factory reset or how to reset settings on Android ?

Hard Reset/Factory reset is the deletion of all data that the user downloaded while using the smartphone. That is, photos, music, applications downloaded by the user, account settings and other user data will be deleted - the smartphone will return to the state it was when it was purchased. The Android system itself will remain the same and is often not included in the reset data.

Why do you need to reset your smartphone:

  • A device on an Android system must be prepared for sale or the purchased device must be cleared of old data;
  • Troubleshooting device performance issues. Usually, after using a smartphone for a long time, unnecessary files accumulate in it, which affect the characteristics of the smartphone, as well as its battery and overall service life;
  • You can solve the problem with Google software, in particular Google Play Market;
  • Unlocking your smartphone if you have discovered an unsolvable software problem or have forgotten the PIN code to unlock the device.

What to do before resetting settings

  1. Make a backup copy of your data. A data backup or Backup data is the saving of downloaded smartphone data on other storage media. That is, save your media files, applications, user data. Usually this can be done immediately before resetting to factory settings using Google services. But you can do this yourself using a flash drive or memory card.
  2. The device must be charged at least 70%. Some smartphones cannot be reset when the battery is low, and if your smartphone dies and turns off during the data reset process, this may lead to errors that only a technician can fix.
  3. If you have an android 5.1 or higher system, then you need to delete all Google data through the settings menu. The fact is that after resetting the device, you need to enter your account information again, and if the old ones are not deleted, the smartphone will stop working, and restoration is only possible in a service center with documents confirming the purchase of the device.

How to reset Android to factory settings - today there are four most popular and convenient ways to reset a smartphone:

  • Through a special Android menu – recovery;
  • In the smartphone settings;
  • Through a special code in the dialing menu, which is located in the Contacts application;
  • Using a special button or hole located in the Android smartphone.

How to reset your smartphone via the recovery menu

This method is for advanced Android users whose device is locked, has an incorrect PIN code/pattern and does not have access to the settings menu, in other words, it’s just a brick.

To access the recovery menu, turn off the device completely (you can remove the battery and insert it back). Next, you need to hold down a certain key combination. It is also worth knowing that on different devices there are different key combinations for entering the recovery menu, taking a screenshot, rebooting the smartphone, etc. etc.

To control the recovery, use the following buttons on the device itself:

Volume Down(volume down) – menu item down;

Volume Up(volume up) – menu item up;

Power(device power button) – select a menu item;

Home(home button) – used to enter the recovery menu;

After executing one of the presented commands, your smartphone will enter the Recovery menu:

In most versions of recovery, moving through the menu is done using the keys of the smartphone itself:

  • Volume up button – move up;
  • Volume down button – move down;
  • Power button – open the selected menu item;

But there are also other versions of recovery where touch navigation through the menu is available.

Let's move on to the process of clearing smartphone data:

  1. Go to the menu item “wipe data / factory reset” or “Clear eMMC” / “Clear Flash”.
  2. Next, agree with all points (yes) and click “delete all user data”
  3. Once finished, restart your device by selecting “Reboot System Now”

The process of resetting data through the recovery menu is the same for all Android devices; the only differences may arise in the names of the menu items and the recovery version.

This method is suitable for you if you have the opportunity to log into the smartphone itself, in the settings menu:

Go to the “settings” application in the device itself:

  • According to the standard, we are looking for the following menu items: Advanced settings -Restore and reset;
  • Accounts (Personal Data) - Restore and Reset (Backup and Reset)
  • On Samsung smartphones: Backup and reset - Backup and reset - or Privacy;
  • On Huawei smartphones: Advanced settings - Recovery and reset;

Next, you will be warned about clearing all information (accounts, contacts, etc.) and also that this may be dangerous for the device. At the very bottom, look for the “Erase all data” item. There will be another similar warning - we agree and clean our device.

Often this type of cleaning is not much different in different Android devices, because... This cleaning is provided by the operating system itself.

Resetting Android device data via dialing or "secret code"

One of the easiest ways to reset data on Android devices. You don't need to learn special combinations or delve into device settings. You just need the “phone” or “contacts” application, where you need to enter a special code to reset the data:

  • *2767*3855#
  • *#*#7780#*#*
  • *#*#7378423#*#*

But it is worth considering the fact that each Android device can use its own code installed by the manufacturer. Therefore, you should find out the exact code on the Internet before starting the data cleaning procedure.

After you have entered one of these codes, press the call button and the process of clearing all data from the device will begin.

Resetting an Android device to factory settings through a special separate button or hole

Older Android devices and some new ones have a reset button on the device itself. It is made in the form of a very small hole and to activate it you need a needle or toothpick.

The main thing is not to confuse the data reset hole with the microphone hole. After activating the button, the device will return to factory settings, and all user data will be deleted.

Performing a data reset on an Android device is a fairly simple task; the main thing is to do everything according to the instructions and choose the right method for your smartphone. Only if you follow the instructions and follow all the rules for using the Android system, you will be able to do everything as it should.

But if you are afraid or do not work well with computers and smartphones, then it is better to turn to a specialist. He knows how to do all these procedures and will definitely not make mistakes.
